DxO has announced the DxO ONE – a pocket-size 20.2MP camera that combines DSLR image quality with the convenience of mobile photography. Could this be the camera that will truly revolutionise smartphone photography? find out more below…
The DxO ONE is extremely lightweight and compact at just 67.5mm and 108g (3.8oz). It attaches to iPhones and iPads with a lightening connector and can be rotated independently of the phone or tablet when connected. It features a high quality 32mm equivalent f/1.8 aspherical lens with a variable 6-blade iris and a 1-inch 20.2MP CMOS BSI sensor. With a sensor this size the depth-of-field will be nowhere near as shallow as with an APS-C or full-frame DSLR, but it will be useful for allowing more light to enter the lens in low light conditions.
The camera feature all the functions you’d expect from an advanced compact camera including program, aperture-priority, shutter-priority, manual and scene modes for point and shoot photography. Images can be recorded in RAW (DNG), JPEG and DxO SuperRAW. If video is important to you, you’ll be pleased to hear the DxO ONE shoots 1080p at 30fps, and 720p at 120fps in .MOV (H.264).
The DxO ONE is available on pre-order on the DxO website and will cost £499 in the UK and $599 in the US.
